Beauty of Us
R. Reeves/T.McHugh

Fuse is short patience thin
Clouds of doubt are rollin in
We’ve seen better days
Baby every now and then
Can’t keep from wonderin
How much more we can take
And I know it would be so easy
To let go
Still we keep believin’

Chorus:
When it’s all wrong it’s all right
Life is a tunnel
Love is a light
And ours is bright enough
It’s gonna rain
Let it pour
Your still mine
And I’m still yours
And we're not givin up
Oh Baby that’s the beauty of us

There were times in the past
I was sure  it couldn’t last
This would tear us in two
And you were all but convinced
What we had just didn’t make sense
We had nothin’ to lose
But as long
As we stay together
And stay strong
Things could only get better

Chorus:

It’s gonna rain let it pour
Your still mine and I’m still yours
And were not givin’up
No Oh Baby that’s the beauty of us
Oh Baby that’s the beauty of  us
That’s the Beauty of us
That’s the Beauty of us
Oh nooo yeah

This is a song about Unconditional Love.  David and I got married so young (20) and had our first child right away.  We were not mature enough to know how to fight fair.  We were financially broke and on top of that I became very sick.  Life cruised along very quickly and stress was very high.  Through all of our trials and tribulations we never lost sight of our love for each other.  Because of these tough trials we know we can make it through anything. The road will not always be easy and you will not always feel like everything is peachy. If you have a relationship built on friendship and love nothing can break that bond.  A great marriage is not by accident, it takes a lot of work, but through the sweat and tears comes a lifetime of love and commitment.  “Beauty of Us” is a song that describes my marriage.  I feel this song and I wanted to share it with others.
Keep Me Forever Falling
J. Deere/K. Elam

It’s every little girls dream
To be swept off her feet
And find someone
Who will always make her smile
Well you’ve got that part down
You know I’m falling now
And I never ever want it to end
So keep me forever falling

Chorus:
Tell me you’ll love me always
And each day of my life I’ll know
I had the best
Cause you’ll never settle for anything less
Just keep me forever falling for you

With every flower you bring
And every sweet song you sing
Every I love you
And every note you leave
And every soft word you say
With every kiss on my face
I’ll close my eyes and have all I’ll ever need
To keep me forever falling

Chorus:

Till we’re old and we’re grey
Promise me everyday
That you’ll keep me forever falling

Chorus:

Keep me forever falling for you

I do not know a little girl that does not think of her future husband as “Prince Charming” that will come and carry her off to a happily ever after.  When I heard this song all of those feelings flooded my memories.  I watched my little girl play with her dolls and I thought, “what a perfect song.”  This is a song of innocent, naïve love.  What a great way to look at a relationship.  This song sounds simple but be careful because it is a song that you will be singing hours after you heard it.
What I Know Now
K. Coffey/W. Kirkpatrick/T. Martin

Who’s that little girl in that picture
I think it’s someone that I used to know
She looks a little bit like me, life time ago
Seems like she could use a shoulder
Someone who knows what lies ahead
If I could go back I would tell her
Hang on, life is only going to get better

Chorus:
She was young and frail, so hard on herself
She was a fragile heart, always in doubt
She was full of dreams, she thought were out of reach
If she only knew what I know now

Hmm Hmm

I’ve been through the whirlwind of emotions
I have loved and lost and loved again
And I have learned that time will bring you wisdom
Every now and then
But every joy and pain was for a reason
To get me here, where I belong
I think about that girl that I was once
It’s good to look and see just how far she’s come

Chorus:

What I know now
Hmm
(Oh) She was young and frail, so hard on her self
She was a fragile heart, always in doubt
She was full of dreams, she thought were out of reach
If she only knew Oh yeah I wish she only knew
What I know now
HHH Oh

I could not have found a song that tugged on my emotions more than this song.  I look at the experiences I have gone through, especially as a child, and I at the time did not know if I could handle them.  I remember my mother saying, “This too will pass,” but it seemed like the end of the world. Those traumatic (at least I thought they were) experiences and scars have made me who I am today.  When I look back at those old pictures, I would love to go back in time and share my wisdom.  I believe a lot can be learned through song and I feel this song can speak to others, like my children, and it is my chance to share what I have learned with someone else that is experiencing guilt, hurt, and lack of self confidence.
One Way to Run
J. Deere/K. Lamb/D. Williams

I feel like leavin’
And there’s nothin’ here to hold me back
I feel like freedom
Is calling me

For no good reason
This urge to run's come over me
This time tomorrow who knows where I’ll be

Chorus:
There’s only one way to run
Full speed ahead no turnin’ back
Out of the gate like a shot gun
There’s nothin’ quite like movin’ fast
There’s only one way to run
If your heart is in it
You’ve got somethin’ worth fightin’ for
Don’t wait one minute kick down the door

Chorus:

Wide open down the road
Feel it burn let it go
Don’t be afraid to say goodbye
Yeah

Instrumental

Chorus:

Yeah
I feel like leavin
And there’s nothin’ here to hold me back
I feel like freedom is calling me

If you are going to be successful in any endeavor in life you have to run at it full force.  You can not look back.  I see so many people in life that work at their job because it is comfortable.  They do not enjoy it and they have dreams that are dying inside of them.  Life is too short to do something you do not enjoy and work with people you do not like.  What a great song of anticipation, excitement and freedom. This is an anthem I am teaching my children and I try to live by everyday.
People Miss Planes
L. Hengber/D. Bryant

A tear ran down his face
As she started to leave
He said baby don’t do this
I’m beggin you please
What can I say to stop you
From walkin out on us
I’ll do anything to save our love

She said I’m through with talkin’
You know I’ve tried my best
I’ve got to leave right now
I’ve got a plane to catch
And he said

Chorus:
People miss Planes
It happens all the time
They cancel their plans
They change their minds
Listen to your heart
Before you go too far
Baby (You can) turn around before it’s too late
People miss planes

She made it to the airport
In the knick of time
In a moment she’d be gone
She’d board that flight
Yeah she’d fly away from trouble
From the struggles that they’d had
And from everything that they had shared

A tear fell on her ticket
As she’d thought about their love
Just another minute
She’d give it all up

Then she heard a voice calling
Boarding flight 41
But another voice inside her said
You don’t have to get on

Chorus:

People miss Planes
People miss Planes
Oh People miss Planes
Hmmmm

This song deeply touched me. The first few times I listened to it, I cried.  I thought the title was very intriguing.  I have friends that have made the decision to divorce or marry someone because they felt trapped.  They have already told everyone or sent out invitations when they know it probably is not the right choice for them. “People Miss Planes” is a wake up call because it tells us to slow down and think about the ripple effect it will cause. I feel for both of these people in this song.  There are broken expectations, vulnerability, and isolation on both of their parts. I especially related to the line “Before you go too far.”  It never hurts to take a breath and “catch the next flight.”  I decided to go with this song because it does not spell out the ending for you.  It allows the listener to form their own opinion of the ending.  I choose to believe she went home and they lived happily ever after, now isn’t that an optimist?  How about you, what do you think she did?
Don't Know What Love Is
S. Russ/K. Lamb

They say
Love can build bridges
They say
It’s a magical place
Well I may
Never have been there
But I'm headin’ that way
Yeah I’m learnin’ all about that illusive sensation
By the process of elimination

Chorus:
It’s not wakin' up cryin'
It’s not cheatin' and lyin'
It’s not feelin' like I have been chasin' a ghost
Not the way that you feel
When the hurt won’t heal
(And)Just breathin' takes all that you’ve got

Oh I don’t know what love is, but I know what it’s not

Maybe it’s all an illusion
Maybe it’s a chance that I missed
But I’ve seen some miracles happen
So I know love exists
From where I’ve been I can see where I’m goin’
Yeah I am closin’ in on this emotion

Chorus:

There have been traces of heaven
Words of compassion
To help me believe
There is somethin’ more waitin' for me

Chorus:

Oh I don’t know what love is
I don’t know what love is
But I know what it’s not

Ooh, I like this song.  What a witty way to express the definition of love.  It approaches love by talking about what it is not which ultimately talks about what it is.  That is deep. This person has obviously been burned and hurt but they haven’t given up on a true love for them.  It paints a great picture.  You can see the whole story unfold.  The most powerful line in the song is “Just breathing takes all that you’ve got.”  I have felt that emotion of being exhausted and whipped but the hook line of the chorus shows that this individual does not get bitter.  This will allow them to truly find the love they are seeking.
Give
N. Puno/C. Cameron

I don’t get why people walk around unhappy
And I don’t get why life’s not always fair
And I don’t get why money has to make a difference
But I don’t really care

Chorus:
Cause I know when my life is over
It’s gonna matter how I lived
And I won’t be measured by the things I’ve got
Cause it isn’t what you get
It’s what you give

So I love every time I get the chance
And I laugh just to hear the sound
And I live every moment to the fullest
As long as I’m around

Chorus:

So give someone a helpin’ hand
Give someone a kiss
Give with all your heart and soul
It doesn’t matter what it is

Just Give
Yeah Yeah

Cause you know when your live is over
It’s gonna matter how you lived
And you won’t be measured by the things you’ve got
Cause it isn’t what you get
It’s what you give

Oh Oh Yeah Yeah Yeah Oh Oh

It’s what you give

Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah

I knew from the first time I listened to the first verse and chorus that I wanted to cut this song. I can not decide what I like better, the music or the lyrics.  Even if I had never heard the lyrics just the music playing brightens my day.  The words really exemplify the kind of person I strive to be.  Life is too short to worry about non-eternal issues...  I don’t want to hold anything back or leave any words of endearment unspoken. This is a message I really want to share with the world.
If I Could Be Anything
K. Lamb/W. Duncan/G. Middleman

My imagination, has always got somewhere to run
Keeps me movin’ to the beat of my own drum
This time is all I have
I want the world to know me as

Chorus:
The train that jumps the track
If I could be anything
Love that won’t hold back
If I could be anything
The queen of some exotic place completely off the map
That would be me, if I can be anything

Everyday there’s so much I want to do
Paint my own way
Make a plan and follow through
Rules that don’t apply to me
Fuels and makes me want to be

Chorus:

I won’t be something that I’m not
Once I’m runnin’ you can’t stop

Chorus:

If I could be anything
If I could be anything
If I could be anything

This is a rockin’ song; it is very short and to the point.  It is one that when it is over you want to play again.  My children love this song because they can relate to it as well.  They love to dream and pretend.  My favorite line is, “Paint my own way, Make a plan and follow through.”  Life is not by accident the only person that restricts you is yourself.  Dream Big, Achieve Big. Dream Little, Achieve Little.
You Know Me
K. Lamb

Sometimes I get a little crazy
Baby you know me
And when the sun comes out
I’m kinda lazy
Yeah you know me

The slightest touch
Temperamental
Well you know me
Talkin’ tough
But sweet and gentle
Yeah you know me

Chorus:
You know about my private heart
You’ve seen the bright side and the dark
No one else can see inside me like you do

I’ve gotta have my space
Every once in a while
Baby you know me
But it won’t take much
To make me smile
Yeah you know me
Take out food
And drive in movies
Well You know me
Melody that can really move me
Baby you know me

Chorus:

Cause you’re the only one
I can tell my secrets to
I know with all my heart I can trust in you

And it’s the simple things that mean so much
Baby you know me
Diamond rings just don’t cut it
Well you know me

Chorus:

Yeah Yeah
You know me
You know me
Oh baby you know me
You know me
Oh baby you know me
You know me

This is just a fun song.  It is very playful and it shows a lighter side of me. Women are very complicated creatures with many sides and dimensions.  Only a chosen few ever really get to know us. The greatest feeling in the world is to look at the person next to you knowing they have seen all of these sides and stay anyway.
All The Way
R. Proctor/W. Mobley

Love, thought I’d been there
Looking back how could I even dare
Dare to think, I was even close
Oh every time before was just almost
Just a crush next to this rush

Chorus:
I think I know what’s comin over me
You get close and I get weak
Takes my breath each time I hear you say my name
Hold my hand I walk on air
Never felt like this I swear
In your arms I know that I can finally say
I’m fallen all the way

Dream, I could never
Dreams were just a feeling in the air
You and me turnin’ into us
Oh I guess it’s just love doin’ what it does
Can’t stop it now
Oh, but who would want to anyhow

Chorus:

Though it took a little while
But every minute every mile
I know it’s worth the wait

Here goes my heart here goes my soul
Up into the great unknown
In your arms I know that I can finally say
I’m fallen all the way
I’m fallen all the way

This is a song that really can not be described.  It is a feeling that you have either felt or you haven’t.  I especially love the work done by Gordon Mote on the piano, because even without the words this song could rip your heart out. My prescription for an incredible experience is this:  Find a quiet time, turn off all of the lights, play this song and remember these emotions and feelings that have been so brilliantly written about.  The music is beautiful and you will not be able to listen just one time.  If you haven’t felt true love - stop reading this and go out and find it!!
